For those of you who eschew all television, please view the photograph below, where Anne Petermann and I shared lunch a couple of weeks ago, as a nice shot of the natural world. For those of you that do watch a bit of television, also please view this as a nice shot of the natural world… But why am I calling this a “Respite from the ‘kingdom of bullshit’ gulag?”
If one watches Mr. Robot on TV, there is a great line from actor Christian Slater in a photo of seemingly the walls of the corporate U.S. surrounding him as he cries out, “We live in a kingdom of bullshit.” An apt saying as the elections grow closer. Although for many, elections or no elections, the kingdom of bullshit seems real and claustrophobic as the planet’s life support systems are stolen for the benefit of the rich with little hope of escaping that reality. That reality is a gulag that stifles dissent…
Anne and I were lucky that day to find an escape into the real world.
